About Ultimate Dog Collar: Safe Training Dog Collar Alternative to Prong & Choke Collars
Anyone who owns a dog and uses a “choke” collar has, at one time or another, searched under their dog’s neck for “that ring,” which is both ineffective and extremely harmful to your dog’s well-being.
It was a beautiful summer Sunday. I was relaxing on my farmhouse porch with my German Shepherd, Armani at my side, who was wearing his choke collar. Out of nowhere, a golf cart came driving up our hill – Armani rose to chase it, while I reached for his choke collar at exactly the same time. There was no time to look for “the ring,” so I grabbed for the entire chain behind his neck. In a flash, Armani twisted as I pulled up, and off he ran! I stood there helplessly with the chain in my hand while the man in the golf cart laughed. Armani “herded” the cart, and, after a few minutes I managed to get his collar back on.
Armani and I were lucky: According to PETA, “choke chains” have been associated with whiplash, fainting, spinal cord injuries leading to paralysis, crushing of the trachea with partial or complete asphyxiation, crushing and/or fracture of the bones in the larynx, dislocated neck bones, bruising of the esophagus, bruising and damage to the skin and tissues in the neck, brain damage and prolapsed eyes caused by sharp increases in pressure in the head, and other injuries.
This is not to mention human fingers getting broken as they are caught in the wrong “ring” when a dog pulls. I thought, “Enough is enough!” I decided to invent a new chain collar that would be safe, easy to use, and most of all, humane.
It took me several months, but soon I had designed The Ultimate Dog Collar™. I gave samples to dog owners and trainers: everyone loved them and wanted to purchase more. Two years later, I was granted US Patent 6,481,384.
