If you know anything about dog training, then you’ve heard of Pavlov: he’s the famous 19th century Russian physiologist who figured out that us dogs could learn by association. Give us food, and we automatically salivate – humans call this an “unconditioned” response.
Pavlov discovered any object or event which we learned to associate with food would also make us drool (like cute female dogs). Behaviorists call this a “learned” or “conditioned” response. Pavlov started experimenting: Whenever he gave food to my ancestors, he also rang a bell. After doing this a bunch of times, he took away the food, and just rang the bell. Guess what? The bell, on its own, made my forefathers salivate – in other words, they learned a new behavior.
Why am I telling you all this? Because The Ultimate Dog Collar also make a little sound that only I can hear that acts as another way to train me!
Think of this little sound as Pavlov’s bell: my contemporaries and I can be trained exactly in the same way. And we like it a WHOLE lot better than choke and shock collars!
